Welcome to Stitch Station

More Than Just a Cafe. A Place to Invest in Yourself.

Two floors of coffee, cake, and craft in the heart of Great Sankey. Whether you’re here to learn a new skill upstairs or enjoy a quiet natter downstairs, we invite you to slow down and stay a while.

Why We Do What We Do

At Stitch Station, we believe that in a fast-paced world, everyone deserves a place to slow down, connect, and “Invest in Yourself.” Our ethos is built on the idea that creativity is a powerful tool for wellbeing.

We’re not just a café or a yarn shop; we are a community-hearted space where the simple act of making something by hand is celebrated as a pathway to mindfulness and friendship. From our creative sanctuary upstairs to our social hub downstairs, we provide the “quality downtime” that helps you recharge.

Two Floors to Explore

The Social Hub: Downstairs Enjoy a barista-served coffee or a slice of locally baked cake. We are proud to be a dog-friendly venue and a host for the Chatty Cafe Scheme. Everyone is welcome to join our Chatty Table on Mondays from 2-4pm.

The Creative Sanctuary: Upstairs Discover our carefully curated yarn shop and workshop space. From beginner crochet and knitting to floristry and paper crafting, our expert tutors are here to help you discover the joy of being part of something creative.

The Station Family

Quality You Can Taste

We believe that the best moments are fueled by the best ingredients. That’s why we’ve partnered with the North West’s finest independent producers. Enjoy sourdough from Sexton’s Bakery, artisan coffee from Neighbourhood Coffee, and delicious treats from Bakes by Becka. At Stitch Station, our heart is in our community, and our hands are always busy making Great Sankey a little more “woolly wonderful.”

As Seen on TV!

We are incredibly proud that our community efforts and our role in the Chatty Cafe Scheme were recently featured on ITV Granada Reports. We’re more than a local business; we’re a place where strangers become friends.

Wonderful craft shop & cafe. Well worth a visit. Wonderful ‘find’ whilst looking for wool/yarn/craft. Marvellous range of items but also a fabulous cafe. Food & service were both excellent. Would return just for the food alone !!

Gorgeous afternoon tea We eat here quite often and love it, so we decided to treat a visiting friend to afternoon tea. The picture below doesn't really do it justice - we had a good selection of sandwiches (more than we could eat) with freshly made scones, macarons and a generous piece of Victoria sponge. It is served with tea or coffee and a glass of elderflower pressé - a lovely original touch. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, but what really makes the experience here is the lovely staff. Every one of them is so friendly and welcoming, and they really can't do enough to help. If knitting or crochet's your thing they will happily stop to chat about your latest project - if not they'll just drop by every now and then to check on you and refill your drink. My friend, who is an avid knitter, says the yarn shop alone is well worth a visit too. Highly recommended.

Well worth a visit. The Stitch has only been open for just over 12 months but it has made a fantastic addition to the local community. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the surroundings are cosy, the food is good and the coffee excellent. They are mindful of environmental issues and have recycled furniture and run groups for people interested in knitting and other pursuits. You can even enjoy a game of chess there. The staff are excellent. Well worth a visit, I go on a regular basis.

Highly recommend !! What a lovely little cafe! I visited this place with a friend while walking the dog and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cafe is dog friendly and they gave my dog the puppychino which was very kind and a nice surprise. The food and drinks were delicious, you can tell everything was homemade, fresh cakes too! I would highly recommend this lovely small cafe and I will definitely be coming again very soon! We need more places this in the area. Thank you 😊

A lovely hub at the heart of the community I visited stitch station on Monday to meet with a local wedding florist and it was a fab location to sit down and have a chat. I ordered a halloumi wrap which was delicious and had a chai latte which is the best I’ve had! I am already looking forward to more wedding planning sessions here accompanied by great food and drinks! Don’t forget to check out their cabinet with items from local sellers :-)

Ladies that lunch! I stumbled across this beautiful cafe and have now visited several times. No parking outside so a short walk from neighbouring street parking. There is always a fabulous display of homemade cakes and delicious sandwiches. Staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. For any craft lovers there is a yarn store upstairs and craft classes held there.

Lovely community cafe Gorgeous little cafe with a real community feel. The ladies who run it are all lovely and go out of their way to be helpful (for example, my daughter and I decided to share dessert, so it was served cut in half and on two plates - full marks for attention to detail!). The food is delicious and the yarn shop upstairs is well worth a visit too. Definitely worth a detour if you're travelling via Penketh station.
